Refined sugar-free, dairy free, egg free vegan eggnog made with raw cashews and pure maple syrup. This healthier take on eggnog makes for an excellent holiday beverage.
If itโs possible to do ya a solid in liquid form, thatโs exactly what Iโve done here. Iโve done you a solid with this vegan eggnog. Which is liquid.bliss.
What I mean to say is this eggnog is completely addicting and it’s nothing but healthful for you. Made with raw cashews, coconut milk, a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg, and just the slightest bit of pure maple syrup make for an eggnog that is not only huge in flavor, but is also nutritious.
Iโm no vegan, but this vegan eggnog is dope. It has no refined sugar, is dairy-free, and egg-free. You deal with zero egg yolks in this recipe. Thatโs zero for salmonella. No whisking involved, neither.
Eggnog with no eggs?? Heresy! What in hells bells can take the place of eggs? Casheeeeeeeews! Bless you.
To make this eggnog, you first soak cashews, which are the vegan road to Elysium. You then blend them with other delicious, natural, and healthy ingredients like coconut milk and dates. Badabing, badaboom, just like a prayer, Shangri-la.
We will never understand eggnog naysayers. We put our brave britches on, take a swig of nog and say, โno, nog naysayer. I will not succumb to your non-nog naysaying ways.โ
If youโre looking for advice on how to get through the holidays, itโs at the bottom of a glass filled with this eggnog and straight up brandy. Drink up.
Recipe adapted from The Chalkboard Mag’s Vegan Eggnog.
Vegan Eggnog
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw unsalted cashews soaked and drained
- 2 cups water
- 1 14-ounce full-fat canned coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup optional
- 6 to 8 dates pitted
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ยผ teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Soak cashews in water overnight (or for at least 4 hours).
- Drain the water from the cashew and place them in a blender with 2 cups of fresh water. Blend until very smooth.
- Add the remaining ingredients and blend until a uniform consistency is achieved. This will require some time, as the dates take a great deal of blending.
- Pour eggnog into a glass container and refrigerate until cold (all the blending will likely heat the mixture up, so for best results, refrigerate before drinking).
- Do crazy awesome stuff with your eggnog.

I’ve just found this nog recipe. I’ve not missed eggnog at all until this year. I made your recipe here and it is delicious! I did add a tablespoon of Vegg for the slightest sulfur (egg) flavor. The Vegg changes the color a little as well. Thank you again! I’m adding this to my holiday notebook!
Hi Debbie, I’m so happy you came accross the recipe and that you’re enjoying it! I’ll have to add the Vegg and test it out! Many thanks for stopping by with your feedback! ๐
This will most definitely be made many times next month. I bet it’s WAY lower in calories than regular eggnog too and even has some protein in it. I haven’t had eggnog with Brandy, but I’ll try that for sure. You should try it with Southern Comfort. I’ll report back.
Your total time should probably include the refrigerator time so no one banks on being able to make this last minute but otherwise this looks delicious! Definitely trying it out as soon as I can get the ingredients
Sounds fab. I’d soak the dates too so they are soft and easy to blend smooth quickly. ๐
That’s great advice! I’m going to be making this recipe again soon and will definitely do the date soaking. Thanks for the note!
I adapted the same recipe from Chalkboard. OMG itโs the best, right?! Hurray for vegan goodness! ๐ Your photos are gorgeous!
Wow, big high five for this nog!! I can most definitely get behind anything that includes coconut milk & cashews!
Yay, an egg-free nog! I love it and I’m all over it. Especially because there are cashews and coconut and heaven in there.
“Casheeeeeeeews! Bless you.”<hilarious
This looks fantastic! I love egg nog but the thought of raw eggs makes me want to puke. Yours, however, sounds perfect.
Growing up, I just pretended like the eggs were cooked. They’re totally not cooked. But that’s neither here nor there, because we will never have eggs in our nog again!
These pictures are simply stunning. And this eggnog, so genius!
Say what? I didn’t even know vegan nog existed. Thank you for enlightening me. I love me some cashew milk, so this has to be delicious. Oh, extra brandy for me please.
I honestly have never really indulged in eggnog…weird, I know! Your version with coconut milk and cashews OBVIOUSLY sounds fanfreakingtastic. Gimmmeeeee!
This has your name all stirred around in it. You can see it in the pictures if you look closely ๐
GENIUS! Love this so much.
It loves you, Christina. It loves you.
Great minds think alike!!! We just made a similar eggnog this weekend. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
ching ching! I’m cheers-ing the crap out of your nog right now! Lets drink booze!
Nog lovers unite! The nog nay-sayers will never understand (and are missing out. Obviously.)
Also, I cannot even believe this nog is real–eggnog without the heavy cream and onslaught of egg yolks?? My dreams are coming true! You may think I”m exaggerating. I am totally not.
This is the best gift you can give yourself ever. You will drown in its glory! ๐
I am not really a nog drinker, but dear gosh, I do love cashews and coconut! Pretty sure I would love this! Awesome recipe!
This nog knocks all other nogs out of the nog-forsaken water. You will looove this! UGh my mouth is watering.
Thank you for the link to our recipe Julia! Your eggnog looks FANTASTIC! Happy Holidays! Martha
You got it, Martha! I’m hoping my eggnog gets to meet your cocktail soon. I feel another batch coming on ๐
