Dairy-Free, naturally sweetened mocha recipe using cacao powder and pure maple syrup | TheRoastedRoot.net #healthy #coffee #drink

You guys, I did the fanciest thing the other day.

I made a mocha.

It was one of those mornings…

…the stars werenโ€™t aligned…

…Mercury was in retrogradeโ€ฆ

…things were being spilled, dropped, brokenโ€ฆ

…my mind chakra was competing with my heart chakra…

…bad hair was involved, the whole bit.

SO I stopped in my tracks, told myself I needed a treat, and out of it a mocha was born.

…of the dairy-free varietal.

…which I proceeded to top with loads of dairy-filled whipped cream, because: balance.

Case in point: whenever I feel like I need a little something special to lift me up, and it happens to be too early in the day for alcohol, youโ€™ll probably catch me squirting something sweet and swanky in my daily joe. Even during the times I need a little pep in my cup, I still try to keep it fairly clean, which is where the healthy mocha comes into play. Refined sugar-free and dairy-free, yet thick with chocolate and java flavor? It donโ€™t get much better than that.

To make this dairy-free Mocha, I used Leaner Creamerโ€™s all natural coffee creamer, which is a non-dairy creamer made with coconut oil. For those who are sensitive to dairy or simply try to limit your intake, this creamer is your jam. Itโ€™s not like your typical dairy creamer, which makes your coffee taste like mleh. It yields the same body, or richness if you will, that you would get with regular cream.

Whipping this tasty beverage up takes no time at all. Simply add all the ingredients to a mug and stir until combined. I like using a blender, because: lazy. All it takes is a few tablespoons of the non-dairy creamer, unsweetened cacao powder, and maple syrup. Toss in a smidge of vanilla extract and cinnamon for a little something special. If youโ€™re into the peppermint mocha thing, you can add in some peppermint extract and be a real boss about it.

Serve the drink with some chocolate shavings and a sprinkle of cinnamon and youโ€™re in for a fancy treat thatโ€™s nothing but good for you.
For your fancy sipping enjoyment…

Questions and Reviews

  1. You know, one of the main reasons I don’t drink coffee is because I don’t like the way it tastes black. But then most creamers are loaded with calories/sugar/junk that I don’t feel like it’s worth it. Leaner Creamer sounds amazing though! I could easily drink one of these mochas all day, errday!!
